Preparing for Giving Tuesday: Funding the Future of Film

The Foundation is gearing up for its most crucial fundraising day of the year: Giving Tuesday. As a small non-profit dedicated to motivating underprivileged children to pursue education beyond high school through combining studying with inspirational out-of-school activities, this annual event is essential for ensuring the continuation of its flagship Summer Film Camp program. This unique camp offers participants hands-on experience in filmmaking, screenwriting, and digital storytelling, providing invaluable technical skills and creative exposure that defines scholars beyond the traditional classroom. The foundation’s goal this Giving Tuesday is to raise 1,000.00 to cover the costs associated with equipment rentals, professional instructors, and scholarships for deserving students, ensuring that financial barriers don’t prevent the next generation of talented storytellers from accessing this transformative program.

The success of this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign directly impacts the foundation’s ability to offer its summer programming at no cost to families in need. The team is calling on its community of supporters, local partners, and advocates for arts education to contribute, whether through a monetary donation or by spreading the word on social media using [Your Campaign Hashtag, e.g., #HarkinsFilmFuture]. Every dollar raised on Tuesday, November 28th, will be a vital investment in the lives of young people, providing them with the confidence, teamwork skills, and technical knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. By supporting the Summer Film Camp, donors help the Dr. Barbara Seniors Harkins Foundation fulfills its mission of expanding educational horizons and creating enriching experiences that light the path toward higher education.
