Do you dream of meeting historical figures? Here’s your chance to explore that dream and win some awesome prizes! The Dr. Barbara Seniors Harkins Foundation is hosting an essay writing contest for middle school students (grades 5-8). Imagine having dinner with a famous person from history – someone who made a real difference in the world. This person could be an inventor, a leader, an artist, or anyone who inspires you! Think about how they are portrayed in a movie or TV show. Why would you choose to meet them based on this portrayal? What burning questions would you ask them about their accomplishments?
To enter, write a 300-500 word essay answering these questions. Be sure to follow all the formatting guidelines (double-spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman 12pt font, etc.) and include your name, age, and grade on each page. Don’t forget to have a parent or teacher sign the entry form! You can submit your essay online or by mail. The deadline is March 17, 2025, so get writing! The grand prize is an Amazon Fire 7 tablet, with gift cards to Barnes & Noble for second and third place. For complete contest rules and entry form, visit the registration link. Good luck!
