ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET: Our Break With a Pro workshop premiere is a hit
Our young filmmakers had an opportunity to learn from animation industry giants Bryson Chun, Pia Auteried, and Megan Rika Young during our first Break With a Pro workshop of the season. Bryson Chun, a writer of Moana 2, shared invaluable insights into crafting compelling narratives and developing memorable characters. Pia Auteried, animator of Leo, demonstrated her expertise in bringing life to animated characters through her stunning visuals. Megan Rika Young, a seasoned storyboard artist, guided participants through the process of visualizing and planning their animated stories. The workshop was a transformative experience for aspiring animators, providing them with practical advice and inspiration from industry leaders. Make sure you attend our next workshop in October!

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH: Sisters Patricia & Naomi Andrade
We are thrilled to spotlight the exceptional Andrade sisters from Compton, CA! First, we celebrate Patricia Andrade, an inspiring 8th grader who has shown remarkable growth through her participation in our non-profit film program. An avid fan of anime, Patricia enjoys watching shows and listening to music in her free time. While she dreams of becoming a veterinarian, her journey in the program has opened her eyes to new possibilities. Patricia shared, “I learned that you never know if you like something unless you try it. At first, I was reluctant to interact with new people, but once I got involved, it became lively and fun. I started seeing movies in a whole new perspective!”
We are equally proud to recognize her sister, Naomi Andrade. As a dedicated 10th grader, Naomi is an active member of the Dr. BSH Foundation. She has explored the captivating world of filmmaking, learning about the behind-the-scenes processes that bring movies to life. In her free time, Naomi enjoys playing games with friends, drawing, and rocking out to classic rock music, which fuels her creativity. With aspirations of becoming a software engineer, Naomi continues to inspire us with her enthusiasm and commitment to both her studies and extracurricular endeavors.
We are proud to have both Patricia and Naomi as part of our community and look forward to seeing where their passions take them! Keep shining, Andrade sisters!
