Acting Students Get Inspired by Into the Woods
Our group of acting students recently took a field trip to see the Broadway musical Into the Woods. The students were inspired by the show’s complex characters, intricate plot, and beautiful music. Here are some of the things that the students said about the show:
Emily said “I was really in love with the set. The way they lowered in the trees as Red weaved through them created depth in the space, and it was a surprise when they started swaying and changing colors! The use of puppets throughout added to the fairytale feel. The show used a lot of physical comedy; it was so interesting seeing how the actors exaggerated their movements to make moments funny that, on paper, you never would’ve guessed that made a whole theater laugh!”
Cathy said, “I loved how the theater put their own comedic twist on it!”
A parent said, “It was cool the way the guy was controlling the cow; he was very engaged.”
The field trip to Into the Woods was a great opportunity for the students to learn about musical theater and to be inspired by some of the best performers in the world. The students said that they would definitely recommend the show to other aspiring actors.
